Adopt a Puff Adder (Bitis arietans)

I’m an introvert by nature and can be quite timid. I am not a huge fan of exercise, but I can beat Hussein Bolt with my lightning fast strike any day. With my camouflage skills you will never know I am there, but if I get a fright I will huff and puff to try and scare you away. My favorite food is mice and I love nothing more than the warmth of the sun.

Adopt a Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus)

Despite my armored tank appearance and numerous sharp pointy teeth I’m actually the biggest softy. I am the largest and heaviest reptile, but I am by no means lazy! I LOVE my food more than anything and I like to hang out all day regulating my temperature by moving between the sun and the water. My favorite avenger is the inredible hulk.

Adopt a Black Mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis)

I am often very misunderstood. People think I like to chase but I am actually extremely shy and will always try to hide from you. If you do give me a fright I will show you the black inside my mouth to try and scare you away. I am one of the fastest snakes in the world. My favourite food is mice and my favourite colour is purple.

Adopt a Yellow Anaconda (Eunectes notaeus)

Everyone knows me from the movies but I don’t really eat people! I can be grumpy at times but only if I am nervous or scared. I have a small head with beady eyes set on top for easy spotting whilst in the water. I am one of the largest snakes in the world. My favourite food is capibara and I love water and hiding in it but I’m not great at breaststroke.

Adopt a Giant Plated Lizard (Matobosaurus validus)

I am one of the largest lizard species found in South Africa. I am shy and will quickly hide in rock crevices if disturbed. I have plate-like scales on my back. I eat a wide variety of things but I particularly love insects. I also love spending time with my family and basking in the sun. My favourite sport is soccer (viva bafana bafana!).

Adopt a Common Boomslang (Dispholidus typus)

I have the largest eyes for my head size compared to any other snake. I am super duper chilled. Unlike my girlfriends who are often brown, as a boy, I am brilliant green. I love to eat birds and you’ll almost only ever see me in a tree – my favourite place in the entire world to be. My favourite animal is a shark… I love sharks.

Adopt a Golden Brown Baboon Spider (Augacephalus junodi)

I am Africa’s tarantula. I make a burrow which I spend the vast majority of my time in. I use the silk threads around and in my burrow to let me know when food is near. I have tiny claws on my feet to help me hold on and I have two big black fangs that I use to catch my dinner. I love to eat insects. My favourite Spider-man is Tom Holland.

Adopt a Veiled Chameleon (Chameleo calyptratus)

I have incredible vision and can move my eyes in two different directions. I have amazing colours which I can change if I am trying to alter my temperature, communicate or hide. I have specialized feet, an extra special tongue and a prehensile tail. I love to eat insects and I don’t like smarties.

Adopt a Leopard Tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis)

I am the fourth largest tortoise species in the world. My ribs make my body (carapace) and I have pretty yellow and black patterns that make me very popular. I am an extremely good climber and I can even swim. I I am a herbivore but I’ll eat a bone for calcium. My favourite game is hide and seek.

Adopt a Snouted Cobra (Naja annulifera)

I ssssstand up and sssssspread a hood when I get ssssscared. If you really sssssssscare me I may even play dead. I am mossssst active at night and I love to eat toadsssss. I like doing crosswordssssss in newssssspapersssss to keep my mind sharp.
